SUPER MOM, HUSTLER, YAHNELE.

I am 25 years old. I have a job, I take care of myself, I’m chasing a dream, and I do a decent job at having a social life. Sometimes, it feels like a lot. Sometimes, I take full advantage of having the ability to tell my gig I’m working from home that day because I just can’t, or sending that text before the night starts letting the crew know that I’m gonna stay in bed. I Love being on, but I also Love the fact that I can be off basically whenever I want. When I dare fix my mind or mouth to complain, I think about my Mother. Her age 25 was much different than mine. By the time my Mother was 25, she was already a Mother, taking on a job that you can’t call off from. That boggles my mind sometimes. I can’t imagine nor do I recollect what it was like for her.

I get a glimpse when I look at my good friend Yahnele. Yahnele is a hustler. There’s no other way to put it. She wears all types of hats, but her favorite reads Mommy. She has a beautiful little girl named Kyleigh and Kyleigh is one of the happiest and most affectionate children I have ever met. Everything that Kyleigh embodies is because of Yahnele.

A typical journey through Yahnele’s daily Snap story will show her getting Kyleigh ready for her day, then going on to her job, then often heading to another job, sometimes coming home to do some hair, AND making a full blown meal for dinner right alongside her baby girl.  Not to mention, the girl looks damn good while she does it! It’s astonishing and leaves me fascinated every time. I, on the other hand, roll into the office pretty late (in nothing more than leggings and a sweater), and begin my tired whine by about 2 pm. Yahnele has that Mother’s ambition like no other. She keeps busy with an office job, a bartending gig, impeccable hair styling (that’s my hair girl, y’all), and being EXTREMELY active with her daughter, and still makes time for quick get aways with her girls. She’s Super Woman.

It’s always beautiful to have people around who can put things in perspective for you. Yahnele is an inspiration. She reminds me of why I have so much gratitude for my own Mother. What’s most impressive, with everything Yahnele does well, she excels at being a Mom; and that’s the hardest job in the world. Cheers to all the Moms! You're making Women's History every single day.
