June Affirmations
Yes, it’s actually June. Let’s not dwell on that. So, here we are. Almost at the halfway mark at one of the most turbulent years many of us have ever seen. Maybe this is me just settling into it, but I’m so used to it now that I see my awareness coming back inward. As that happens, I’ve had a lot of thoughts and noticing moments with myself and honesty. More about that here. However, that does bring me to today’s quote:
“Hiding how you really feel and trying to make everyone happy doesn’t make you nice, it just makes you a liar.” -Jenny O’Connell
So, typically, I find quotes that are a lot prettier than this. This had a harshness to it when I read it. The words don’t dance up around me and whisk me up into a blissful sky like some other quotes. But I think that’s what makes this quote so necessary. A lot of times, honesty doesn’t feel like a clean deep breath. It feels shallow, and sometimes painful. But, I think, we can feel those things and still associate them with Love and kindness. Cue this month’s affirmations:
I am honest with myself and others as an act of kindness.
I am thankful for those who are honest with me.
My truth is allowed to change as I change.
I give grace to others as they learn, grow, and change.
I attract connections that are easy to be honest in.
I am Loved and accepted for who I truly am.
I express myself clearly and truthfully.
I am shameless.
I express my desires because I deserve them.
I am an honest person.
We are being offered the ultimate kindness when people are honest with us. We are often being offered choice with the kindness of honesty. We have to be thankful for that. We have to be willing to be a space that welcomes honesty; where the people we Love can rest assured that they don’t have to pretend with us. And we deserve the same spaces in return. Practice this kindness today and everyday. We all deserve to come as we are.
