October Affirmations 2024
Community is home. It is the embodiment of the togetherness that helps us feel like we are a part of something bigger than our singular existence.” -Cat Lantigua
If you go back to a post I wrote a few weeks ago, I detailed how this quote and this book, Build It and They Will Come: A Guide to Architecting Intentional Community by Cat Lanigua, came into my awareness in this really magical way. Proof, perhaps, of community taking form in many ways. Having something come to me, attract to me, and be in such sync with where I was currently residing, what I was thinking, that feels like a form of community, to me.
I can’t help but to also notice the time of year that this all came to me. While the internet mostly portrays us all rejoicing about spooky season and the fall vibes, I know all too well how many of us begin to suffer in the darker, colder months. Community is essential. Whether it exists only through our devices (but hopefully not) or we have a routine with one or a few special people to just catch up and keep each other present, it is absolutely needed. I know how easy it is to isolate and how much, in those times, it feels like that’s what we really want and need. Our self time is sacred, but don’t disconnect. We all need people.
I offer myself and the collective these affirmations to help us stay grounded in the communities we create:
I am committed to healing myself for the overall healing of the collective.
I am not alone.
I proudly belong to a community that I’ve chosen.
It is important to me that we all thrive.
I am safe within my community.
My community is a source of my joy and a recipient of my joy.
I pour into myself and have so much to offer others.
Cozy up to your tribe and breathe that in. I am here to connect, as you are my community too. Thank you for that. Happy October.
